UR STORY

Who We Are,

In the vibrant heart of Southern California, a transformative idea emerged from the shared vision of Jaylen Davis and Luxamira Sanchez. They envisioned a future where every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, has access to enriching after-school programs that foster creativity, education, and personal growth.

This vision became Our Way Home, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering students, providing them with transformative opportunities, and equipping them with the skills they need to succeed. As we approach our soft launch in Q4 of 2025, we reflect on the journey that brought us here and the mission that continues to drive us forward.

Building a Vision,

Jaylen Davis and Luxamira Sanchez, co-founders of Our Way Home, drew inspiration from their own childhood experiences. They both understood the life-changing impact of supportive after-school programs places where young people could explore their interests, develop essential skills, and build meaningful relationships in a safe, nurturing environment.

Recognizing the need for high-quality, accessible programs in underserved communities, they set out to build a space where students are empowered to dream bigger, reach higher, and break through barriers that might otherwise limit their potential.

Expanding Horizons,

From the beginning, Our Way Home has been committed to creating lasting change in communities where enrichment opportunities are often out of reach. As we prepare for full operations, we are actively expanding across:

  • Los Angeles County

  • San Bernardino County

  • Orange County

This regional focus ensures that children and families across Southern California have access to our transformative programs, regardless of the challenges they may face.

Our long-term vision is to scale our impact nationwide and, eventually, bring Our Way Home to communities around the world.

Seasonal Operations for Maximum Impact,

Our Way Home operates on a seasonal model designed to optimize our impact while ensuring sustainable growth:

May – November: Direct Programming & Student Engagement

During these months, we deliver enriching, high-quality after-school programs that foster creativity, academic growth, and life skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Students participate in various activities tailored to their interests and needs, ensuring they receive personalized mentorship and hands-on learning experiences.

December – May: Strengthening Our Foundation

While direct programming pauses during these months, Our Way Home focuses on strengthening its foundation for long-term success. We dedicate this time to:

Building relationships with donors and securing funding for future programs

  • Expanding partnerships with local schools, businesses, and community organizations

  • Evaluating and refining our curriculum to ensure continued excellence

  • Training staff and volunteers to enhance program delivery
